Burleigh Beach
Burleigh Heads’ beach scene has something for everyone, popular with those who like to swim in the protected waters and those who love to surf around the headland. You are sure to fall in love with this popular beach’s pristine golden sands and clear blue waters – and with patrolling lifeguards it provides safe swimming for family and friends year-round. You will also find clean, well-maintained barbeques, picnic shelters and playgrounds dotted around the beachside parklands, making Burleigh Beach perfect for a lovely day in the sunshine.
Surfing
Renowned for its world-class surf break, Burleigh Heads is often the location for competitions, as well as being close to a number of other surfing locations that regularly feature in competitions. It has always been a favorite for locals and internationals alike and it is not unusual to find professionals showing off their moves!
Within a 30 minute drive you can get to some of the world’s other greatest surfing point breaks such as Kirra, Rainbow Bay, and Currumbin Alley. You can learn to surf with qualified instructors then take on the waves solo. Most of the beaches are patrolled by surf lifesavers but it is best to swim between the yellow and red flags.
Burleigh Head National Park
Take in spectacular views, abundant wildlife and beautiful rainforest while walking around Burleigh Headland through Burleigh Head National Park. You will find marked trails you can follow, including the ocean view walk which is 1.2 km one-way (allow 30 minutes) or the rainforest circuit which is 2.3 km return (allow 60 minutes). On your walk, stop by the Tumgun lookout where you might be able to spot some migrating whales!
