Burleigh Beach

Burleigh Heads’ beach scene has something for everyone, popular with those who like to swim in the protected waters and those who love to surf around the headland. You are sure to fall in love with this popular beach’s pristine golden sands and clear blue waters – and with patrolling lifeguards it provides safe swimming for family and friends year-round. You will also find clean, well-maintained barbeques, picnic shelters and playgrounds dotted around the beachside parklands, making Burleigh Beach perfect for a lovely day in the sunshine.

Surfing

Renowned for its world-class surf break, Burleigh Heads is often the location for competitions, as well as being close to a number of other surfing locations that regularly feature in competitions. It has always been a favorite for locals and internationals alike and it is not unusual to find professionals showing off their moves!

Within a 30 minute drive you can get to some of the world’s other greatest surfing point breaks such as Kirra, Rainbow Bay, and Currumbin Alley. You can learn to surf with qualified instructors then take on the waves solo. Most of the beaches are patrolled by surf lifesavers but it is best to swim between the yellow and red flags.

Burleigh Head National Park

Take in spectacular views, abundant wildlife and beautiful rainforest while walking around Burleigh Headland through Burleigh Head National Park. You will find marked trails you can follow, including the ocean view walk which is 1.2 km one-way (allow 30 minutes) or the rainforest circuit which is 2.3 km return (allow 60 minutes). On your walk, stop by the Tumgun lookout where you might be able to spot some migrating whales!

Shopping

The village feel of James Street and the surrounding area draws in locals and visitors alike looking to find unique gifts, stylish boutiques or something a little bit quirky from one of a number of markets that are held in Burleigh Heads on a regular basis. On the other hand if you’re in the mood for a shopping spree, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Harbour Town, Robina and Pacific Fair are just a short drive away.

Markets

Beachfront Art & Craft Markets are held the last Sunday of each month at Burleigh Heads. Located on the Esplanade, they are an easy walk from your Bujerum apartment. From crafts, arts, gifts, souvenirs and the weird & wonderful, all will be found at these markets. This market consists of over 200 stalls showcasing the best of Australian made products.

The Burleigh Village Markets are a much-loved favourite of Gold Coast fashionistas held at Burleigh Heads State School. A combination of some of the Gold Coast’s best up and coming fashion designers, artists and vintage collections, the Village Market showcases exactly what the Gold Coast has to offer. Check it out on the first and third Sunday of every month!

Restaurants, Bars and Cafés

Burleigh Heads has a vast array of fabulous restaurants and funky cafés, many within a few minutes’ walk from your Bujerum apartment, which cater for all types of occasions from family nights through to a romantic dinner for two looking out over beautiful Burleigh Beach. In the rejuvenated village centre and surrounds you will also find a very low key, cool small bar & music scene.

Heritage and culture

Visiting the Jellurgal Cultural Centre is a highlight! With displays, storytelling and tours, it is an excellent way to learn and understand local aboriginal history and future pathways.

Theme Parks and Family Attractions

A short drive north you will easily access all of the Gold Coast’s major and most exhilarating theme parks. You can get up close to fascinating marine mammals at Sea World and more than 1,400 of our amazing native Australian animals at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Alternatively brave the hair-raising rides of Dream World, splash into another world at Wet’n’Wild, with some of the biggest and most extreme water slides in Australia, or check out action-packed shows at Warner Bros. Movie World!

Golf

The Gold Coast is well known as a golfers’ paradise. Sanctuary Cove and Royal Pines are well known as being two of the best championship golf courses in Australia. There are also hundreds of other course options for the non-champions.

Gold Coast Hinterland

A scenic drive to the west will take you up to the Gold Coast Hinterland where you will find an endless selection of wineries, national parks and food markets.

QUEENSLAND GOVERNEMNT REQUIREMENT Queensland Travel Declaration

From 1am AEST Saturday 19 June 2021 you must complete a declaration to enter Queensland from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 in Queensland and manage outbreaks, the Queensland Government has put in place declaration requirements for all travel into Queensland from interstate and New Zealand (on quarantine free flights).

Queensland has two types of declarations, a Queensland Travel Declaration and a Queensland Border Declaration Pass.

You must complete the right declaration for your situation before you travel to enter Queensland. If conditions change or you need to update your travel details, you’ll need to complete a new declaration with updated details. Queensland residents must also complete a declaration if they are returning home from interstate or New Zealand
